The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres (CRCC) provide a link to and information about services for older people, people with a disability, and those who provide care and services. The Centres can also help carers with options to take a break through short-term and emergency respite and provide advice on and coordinate access to respite services in a carer's local area.

In 2012/13 the Silver Chain CRCC assisted 1,429 carers, including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) clients to gain access to 2,375 respite and support programs, providing a total of 322,880 hours of care.
