This year RDNS SA celebrated 120 years of caring for South Australians. To commemorate this milestone, a campaign called ‘A story behind every door’ recognised the role our clients have played during the organisation’s long history.
The organisation was started in 1894 by Dr Allan Campbell who set out to care for a community in the midst of poverty and an economic depression. Today, RDNS SA is an innovator and leading service provider that cares for more than 16,000 clients each year.
Over the past year, the focus for RDNS SA has been improving financial sustainability, employee engagement and the funder experience.
Being financially sustainable means that we will be able provide services to our clients for many years to come. To achieve this, over the past year we have reviewed and implemented a new organisational structure, aligning accountability and responsibility. We have also renegotiated major contracts with pleasing results.
We have focused on improving the engagement of our employees by refining how we communicate across RDNS SA, both informally and formally, finalising our new enterprise agreement for nursing staff and establishing new ways to reward and recognise staff.
We have worked extremely closely with our funders this year to ensure we meet their expectations. Some of the ways we have achieved this is through providing consistent escalation points for managing queries, reviewing and refining our data billing systems and reducing unnecessary transactions.
Our clients are at the centre of everything we do and we received some pleasing results from satisfaction surveys including:
- 93 percent were satisfied or very satisfied with the service we provide
- 85 percent stated that we improve independence and their quality of lives
The future of healthcare relies on good partnerships and we have continued to ensure that our relationships with all of our stakeholders remain strong so we can continue to play an important role in the lives of South Australians.
