Dedicated volunteers have been supporting our clients and staff throughout our history.

Currently, our organisation benefits from the skills and experience of more than 280 volunteers who make a significant contribution, enhancing the quality of service we provide to clients and their families.

Our volunteers throughout Australia conduct a range of activities including:

  • Alleviating the burden on carers
  • Providing companionship, conversation and support
  • Assisting in the success of special events, promotions and general fundraising.

Community Connections

This year, Silver Chain launched a new volunteer program in Western Australia with the purpose of reducing the health risks associated with social isolation and loneliness by identifying and supporting lonely clients.

Loneliness and social isolation has been proven to disrupt sleep, elevate blood pressure and increase stress and depression.

Research tells us that we can have an impact on loneliness by reaching out to lonely people,

understanding the nature of their loneliness, developing a personalised response and supporting them to re-connect with the community.

We match volunteers with clients to assist them to reconnect with their local community. Volunteers support the client in building their confidence so that they can continue to do the things they love.
