Health Care South Australia
During the 2017/18 financial year, RDNS providers delivered almost 600,000 occasions of care to more than 18,000 South Australians. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our staff for the effort they put into delivering high quality and safe care every day.
As is true for many years, last year was a year of change. Specifically, RDNS implemented the client service delivery model, which split our core nursing services into ‘acute’ and ‘chronic & complex’ streams to more effectively match the skills of our staff with the funding and service streams of our contracts.
We also successfully piloted the midwifery, paediatric and palliative care clinical support structures, and completed the full transition from Home and Community Care Frail Aged to the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.
Furthermore, our Disability Training team worked hard to support our clients through the changes and transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and they invested in the development of online training packages to support Disability Training into the future.
Significantly, last financial year saw SA Health put out to tender the Hospital and Health Care @ Home and Community Nursing contracts representing approximately 40% of our revenue. RDNS successfully tendered for the SA Community Care Program, which will be delivered through a panel of providers from 1 July 2018.
Looking forward to the next Financial Year, RDNS will work to position itself to manage the changes from the implementation of the SA Community Care Program and the State Government’s move to devolve activities to the Local Health Networks. We will also continue to explore opportunities to develop new service models with private hospitals and work collaboratively to integrate Domiciliary Care under the RDNS and Silver Chain Group banner.
