SA Government’s Domiciliary Care services takes on new life with RDNS SA
On 30 June 2018, RDNS SA became the new provider of all Domiciliary Care services (previously delivered by the SA Government).
The acquisition of Domiciliary Care’s services very quickly expanded the range of specialist health and home support services offered by RDNS SA, which now includes:
- occupational therapy
- social work
- speech pathology
- home modifications
- social support programs
- respite for carers and more.
Silver Chain Transition Director, Bronwyn Masters, oversaw the transition and said RDNS SA was proud to be selected as the future provider of Domiciliary Care services.
“Domiciliary Care was one of the largest providers of home-based care for older South Australians,” Ms Masters said.
“After a competitive tender process last year, we were selected to become the future provider of Domiciliary Care services.
“This was reflective of the experience and capability of our team and because of our reputation to deliver high quality in-home health and support services.
“As RDNS SA, we have a long history of caring for South Australians of all ages in their homes, and so it was only natural to set out a goal of becoming the future provider of Domiciliary Care.
“More than 5,000 clients have joined RDNS SA as part of the transition process and it’s exciting to know we are now able to support more clients, their carers and families with the services they need and rely on.
“We’re also delighted to be able to add new services, like speech pathology, podiatry, social work and nutrition to our range of services and programs. This means we can help more people as their needs change and provide a more holistic and integrated care approach.
“Merging with another organisation can pose many challenges, so right from the very beginning we put continuity of care for clients as our highest priority.
“You can only imagine how pleased we were when more than three quarters of current Domiciliary Care staff chose to transfer to RDNS SA. By taking on their experience, skills and long-standing relationships with clients, we are very well placed to continue their wonderful work.
“Our passionate South Australian team now has more than 800 employees who are committed to helping people of all ages live independently in their own homes.
“It has taken a team effort to ensure a successful transition, and I’d like to thank all the staff involved in managing the transition as well as all Domiciliary Care staff for maintaining their outstanding services to clients while undertaking extra duties to successfully move over to Silver Chain Group.
